o christmas tree

each year we go to lake forest gardens in fombell, pa, to cut down our christmas tree. this is one of my favorite traditions of the year. it's so much fun. and the weather was perfect this year. basically, you pick what type of tree you would like (we usually pick canaan fir as the needles are softer) and you take a hay ride out to that type of tree. they drop you off and the search begins. after finding a tree that is perfect for your family, you cut it down yourselves. so much fun!

this year's choice, not yet decorated completely:

we have some crazy times together- singing christmas carols, trying to take family photos, and this year, the trees kept falling on uncle chris and all the boys! they loved it. we went to the chinese buffet in cranberry after for lunch. here are some more pics of our family fun!

I still cant believe you have to cut it yourself. However, it looks like a great time and a wonderful family tradition. Maybe we can get someone to cut ours. I can't see Danielle or myself whipping out the saw.

Looks great! Ours has two strings of light on it, and then I realized I put the plug end at the top. Uggh.

Sweet...A Real Tree. I miss real trees. We have a fake one. It's on our coffee table. It is a little less romatic, but in Texas real trees cost a fortune, and I'm pretty sure that Jacob would end up climbing it anyway.

That looks so fun. We just went across the street to the grocery store parking lot and bought one from a guy in a trailer. lol
Your pictures are adorable. You have such a cute family! Lots of love!!!

This reminds me of my cherished childhood memories of pulling the box out of the garage, inserting peg B into slot A, and then plugging in the pine scented potpourri...ah a good old fashioned Christmas.

Haha, thanks so much for all the comments~ You all totally made my night. Yeah, we only had a fake tree growing up and since we live somewhere we can easily get one, I love having a real tree. Texas would definitely be difficult... And it is fun to go cut them down (especially when you have a brawny man to do it for you...) Lisa,I could totally see you cuttingdown a tree yourself, but if you need it, Ben can always help. I like volunteering him for things!
